General Skilled Migration

Points-Based Skilled Migration (PBSM) scheme for workers with skills in demand in Australia. You must score at least 65 point based on your age, level of English, professional experience, etc.

Visa Subclass 189 (Skilled – Independent):
Permanent visa, which allows you to live and work full-time anywhere in Australia, leading to citizenship. Partner and dependents may be included. No need for employer sponsorship or state/territory nomination.
How it works:

  • We apply for a Skills Assessment with an assessing authority, which compares your overseas qualification against the standards adopted in Australia
  • We submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Department of Immigration through SkillSelect
  • If the Department invites you to apply, we then apply for the visa for you.

Visa Subclass 190 (Skilled – Nominated):

If you do not qualify for visa 189 above, you might qualify for visa 190. This is a Permanent visa that allows you to live and work full-time in a specific nominating state/territory in Australia, leading to citizenship. Partner and dependents may be included. No need for employer sponsorship.
Comparing it against visa 189 above:

Advantages:

  • You will score more points on visa 190.

Disadvantages:

  • You must live and work in the sponsoring state/territory
  • Each state/territory may condition the nomination on some commitments from you such as to work and live in that state/territory for a minimum period of time. After such a period, you can live anywhere in Australia.

How it works:
The process is similar to visa 189 above.

Visa Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional):
If you do not qualify for any of the above visas, you might qualify for visa 491. Please contact us for more details on visa 491.
